Year 6 into 7

Our Transition Programme ensures that every new student feels happy, settled, and secure from their first days at secondary school.  It is important for us to get to know each student that joins Abbey College as quickly as possible and our Transition Programme supports this by enabling us to learn about each individual student’s personality, abilities, preferences, talents, and where extra support might be needed, so that we can personalise each student's learning experience.

Our school is always excited by the imminent arrival of Year 6 students for transition and this year is no exception.

Introduction

Here at Abbey College we like to fully prepare year 6 pupils for the step up into secondary school. The transition to secondary school can be a daunting period for many young people. This can often mean that when pupils join their secondary schools in September they spend a period of time settling in and adapting to their new school rather than progressing with their learning and personal development.

In partnership with our local primary schools we feel that this period of time can be used more effectively to make sure that pupils continue their learning and progress quickly into secondary education.

We are in touch with all of our primary schools and over the coming weeks will be getting to know each and everyone of you all that little bit more so we can support you through your time at Abbey College. This transition page will be added to regularly with projects and other updates leading up to September.
